about: Taliesin is an overture. Its simple, powerful and hypnotic motifs form the thematic basis for much of the rest of the material on Passage. The opening theme is a dizzying, circular piano motif, with an accompanying melodic line played on flute and fretless bass. A synthesized solo voice eventually takes over the piano part from theme 1, flips it upside-down, and sets it as a counterpoint against the darker, more urgent second and third themes. This segment incorporates some detailed percussion work on the rik.
